3 Monster Friends [Voice] - Content Warning
[ The thing about having stunted growth, being raised by monsters, and then subsequently raised by a boy around your age, is that sometimes you miss out on being informed about key parts of life.
Arietta sniffles a few times before she manages to address the journal. ]
Is there a doctor... um... Can a doctor come here? A lady would be better... I think.
[ She takes a few unsteady breaths. ]
I don't know what happened. It won't stop bleeding...

[Action]
I'm in the bathroom...
[Action]
She puts on as gentle a smile as she can muster and speaks in as comforting a tone as she can manage. ]
Hey. How have you been holding up?
[Action]
[ But the comforting is really, really appreciated. ]
I don't like this at all!
[Action]
[ Which she probably shouldn't let the girl dwell on right now, so she rummages through the bag she brought with her and continues on somewhat briskly, in the hopes of taking Arietta's mind off of it a little with instructions. ]
Which, to start with, is to help you be able to move out of the bathroom. [ Arietta might do better to be follow Rapunzel's lead here unless she wants to be doing extra laundry, because Fenimore is enough of a luddite that she is producing a homemade cloth pad. ] This will catch the blood so you don't have to be worrying about it as often. Sort of like a bandage, but for your underwear.
[ Perhaps not the best metaphor, but she's never had to give this talk before. ]
[Action]
It won't leak through that?
[Action]
[Action]
[Action]
[ Well...other side-effects aside that aren't exactly going to make her want to run a marathon. But at least it shouldn't be so bad for a first couple of years. ]
[Action]
[Action]
[ She'd rather not poke through all the rooms of a stranger's house. (Well, she knows Asch, but she doesn't realize this is also his house.) ...She probably should also ask where in the room they are, but she figures that the answer is somewhere in a dresser and doesn't think that she probably shouldn't be poking through that, either. ]
[Action]
[Action]
[ It won't take too long. Fenimore does pick the wrong drawer at first and has to open and close most of them, but once she's through that issue, she's back with the first pair of underwear she found. ]
Here.
[Action]
[ Cue a few seconds of playing a two-piece puzzle with the cloth pad and her underwear. ]
Does it just sit there like that?
[Action]
Yeah, that's it. That way, you don't have to spend any more time in the bathroom -- well, until you have to change it in a few hours. But until then.
[Action]
I can stand up now?
Re: [Action]
Yeah. You can do whatever you want now...more or less. You might feel more tired than usual. [ Or sore. But if that hasn't happened yet, then it might be better to bring that up later, when everything about it was less new. ]
[Action]
Okay.
[ And she sets about doing all the things to stand up, and...
standing up!
...
Well, it hasn't leaked immediately, so... ]
Um... thank you.
[Action]
[Her mother really should have explained it to her, but Fenimore keeps quiet on that. There are way too many reasons why this might not have been able to be helped and some of them could bring up painful memories. (Fenimore doesn't even think to consider the actual reason, though on the front of "dead mother" she can sympathize.) So, instead:]
By the way, my name's Fenimore. What's your name?
[Action]
[ In all of the panic she forgot names. Oops. ]
[Action]
It's nice to meet you, Arietta.
So...are you feeling o -- well, I guess you wouldn't be okay, but other than, well, the bleeding...are you doing mostly all right?
[ No need to tell her about the things that could go wrong right away, but she feels like she should be sure she has enough information for this period, at least. ]
[Action]
1/2
I'm afraid that a little pain is normal. It helps a little if you have something warm to put against it, but.... [ One side of her mouth quirks up wryly for a moment, unintentionally. It's something that she's just learned to live with since she is technologically avoidant enough that she has never learned of the wide world of ibuprofen. Alas that period cramps do not come up in everyday conversation. Hopefully one of the other people who will be explaining things to Arietta will be a little less of a luddite. ]
[Action]
[ She hadn't exactly explored when she went to get Arietta's underwear, but she hadn't really noticed anyone around.
Though it seemed like there was a breeze coming from one room as though someone had dived out the window....It's possible that Arietta's housemates were out right now, and it would be a sad thing to leave the girl to deal with food on her own when coping with this. Especially since Fenimore is still thinking that Arietta is probably 12, maybe 13 at the oldest, rather than just a couple of years younger. She feels that's worth barging into someone else's kitchen without asking. ][Action]
Okay. And food might help, since I'm hungry, I think.
[ Actually it's not very much of the pain that's hunger's fault, but she doesn't really know that. ]
[Action]
But for now, she's gotten her from a miserable little girl sniffling on a toilet to...well, to neutral, at least. That is in itself a victory. ]
Well...it'll help a little. [ At the least, not eating would eventually lead to more problems, so it's true in a way. She takes her hand off Arietta's head and claps her hands together. ] Why don't I make you some pancakes? Does that sound good?
[ It's probably a bit late for breakfast, but if she hasn't eaten much since she woke up, it might work at least as brunch. And every kitchen had to have the ingredients for pancakes, right? Flour, sugar, baking power, salt, eggs, and milk...those were normal, right? (Though flour and baking powder might be more common in her mind since she comes from a world where baking is really popular.)
...She probably should investigate this, so, regardless of Arietta's response, she will begin to make her way towards the kitchen. ]
