3 Monster Friends [Voice] - Content Warning
[ The thing about having stunted growth, being raised by monsters, and then subsequently raised by a boy around your age, is that sometimes you miss out on being informed about key parts of life.
Arietta sniffles a few times before she manages to address the journal. ]
Is there a doctor... um... Can a doctor come here? A lady would be better... I think.
[ She takes a few unsteady breaths. ]
I don't know what happened. It won't stop bleeding...

Re: [Action]
Yeah. You can do whatever you want now...more or less. You might feel more tired than usual. [ Or sore. But if that hasn't happened yet, then it might be better to bring that up later, when everything about it was less new. ]
[Action]
Okay.
[ And she sets about doing all the things to stand up, and...
standing up!
...
Well, it hasn't leaked immediately, so... ]
Um... thank you.
[Action]
[Her mother really should have explained it to her, but Fenimore keeps quiet on that. There are way too many reasons why this might not have been able to be helped and some of them could bring up painful memories. (Fenimore doesn't even think to consider the actual reason, though on the front of "dead mother" she can sympathize.) So, instead:]
By the way, my name's Fenimore. What's your name?
[Action]
[ In all of the panic she forgot names. Oops. ]
[Action]
It's nice to meet you, Arietta.
So...are you feeling o -- well, I guess you wouldn't be okay, but other than, well, the bleeding...are you doing mostly all right?
[ No need to tell her about the things that could go wrong right away, but she feels like she should be sure she has enough information for this period, at least. ]
[Action]
1/2
I'm afraid that a little pain is normal. It helps a little if you have something warm to put against it, but.... [ One side of her mouth quirks up wryly for a moment, unintentionally. It's something that she's just learned to live with since she is technologically avoidant enough that she has never learned of the wide world of ibuprofen. Alas that period cramps do not come up in everyday conversation. Hopefully one of the other people who will be explaining things to Arietta will be a little less of a luddite. ]
[Action]
[ She hadn't exactly explored when she went to get Arietta's underwear, but she hadn't really noticed anyone around.
Though it seemed like there was a breeze coming from one room as though someone had dived out the window....It's possible that Arietta's housemates were out right now, and it would be a sad thing to leave the girl to deal with food on her own when coping with this. Especially since Fenimore is still thinking that Arietta is probably 12, maybe 13 at the oldest, rather than just a couple of years younger. She feels that's worth barging into someone else's kitchen without asking. ][Action]
Okay. And food might help, since I'm hungry, I think.
[ Actually it's not very much of the pain that's hunger's fault, but she doesn't really know that. ]
[Action]
But for now, she's gotten her from a miserable little girl sniffling on a toilet to...well, to neutral, at least. That is in itself a victory. ]
Well...it'll help a little. [ At the least, not eating would eventually lead to more problems, so it's true in a way. She takes her hand off Arietta's head and claps her hands together. ] Why don't I make you some pancakes? Does that sound good?
[ It's probably a bit late for breakfast, but if she hasn't eaten much since she woke up, it might work at least as brunch. And every kitchen had to have the ingredients for pancakes, right? Flour, sugar, baking power, salt, eggs, and milk...those were normal, right? (Though flour and baking powder might be more common in her mind since she comes from a world where baking is really popular.)
...She probably should investigate this, so, regardless of Arietta's response, she will begin to make her way towards the kitchen. ]
[Action]
It does! [ And she will be following after Fenimore, thinking nothing of her going ahead. ] Should I do something to help?
[Action]
If you want to help, then you can lend me a hand finding the ingredients, since this isn't my own kitchen. I'll need flour, sugar, and baking powder.
[ Salt should be easy enough to find. Ditto on the cold ingredients. No need to give too long a list. And with that, they arrive in the kitchen. ]
[Action]
She knows where Asch and Ginji put stuff, at least. ]
I think they might be over here.
[ And she opens a cabinet!
... No, not in here. --oh wait, that says flour! Arietta will just be pulling that out of the cabinet now. ]
[Action]
She glances over her shoulder to see Arietta pulling out the flour. ]
Thanks! That's a big help.
[ Okay, time to preheat the pan and then...bowls. That shouldn't be too hard to find, right? ]
[Action]
Um... ]
[Action]
Oh well. ]
I'll start looking from this end, and you can check from that end. They've got to be in here somewhere.
[ ...She assumes. ]
[Action]
That sounds like a good idea.
[ It's also entirely possible that they're higher up than she can reach, whoops.
But for now she'll head to the end and start looking. ]
[Action]
On her end, Fenimore looks fairly briskly. Open, glance through, shut, on to the next one. The other ingredients have to be here somewhere, right? ]
[Action]
Arietta has just enough manners to know that climbing up on the counter is a bad thing. She can just barely reach the handles for the upper cabinets, but she pauses when she sees the very top of a container with something white in it. ]
Fenimore? Is that one of them?
[ She can't see the label :( ]
[Action]
But it does look about right, so she bluffs. ]
Um -- yeah. That's it. Just a moment, I'll get it down.
[ Counters may be out of bounds, but chairs are okay in Fenimore's book, so she'll grab one to use as an impromptu stool. Mission succe -- !
Wait. This isn't it. But, with the additional height, she notices a different container labeled baking powder farther back on the shelf.
...
She quietly positions herself to try to block Arietta's line of sight as she swaps the positions of the two and claims the right one rather than admit that she made a mistake. She'll hope that she won't notice the containers look different when she gets down with it. ]
[Action]
Once Fenimore is safely back on the ground, Arietta tries to get a look at what she's holding. ]
Are you okay? Which one is last?
[Action]
I'm fine. Don't worry -- I'm pretty used to climbing on chairs with this height. [ Her grin is a little self-depricating, but she does find it easier to admitting to being short enough to need a chair or the like often enough to someone who is notably shorter. ]
And all that's left is the sugar -- though I guess we could make it without it if we had to. But a kitchen has to have sugar somewhere, right?
[Action]
[ And she points to... you guessed it, another cabinet up high. ]
[Action]
[ This is a job for the chair! ...Because otherwise it's a job for bouncing undignifiedly. She drags it over -- she nearly asks Arietta to help make it less awkward to carry, but then she remembers the girl is in the middle of her first period and abstains from that -- and gets atop it.
And...well, there seem to be a number of things up here. Possible success? As she roots through the cabinet, she glances down. ]
How tall are your housemates?
[ Not that it really took that much difference to change between someone who struggled with high cabinets and someone who could use them easily. ]
[Action]
[ Do you need her to help put things down? Arietta walks over when she notices that Fenimore seems to be taking a while with this cabinet. ]
